Netherlands 1948 5 cents rev AH.jpg

In 1948, the Utrecht mint had recovered sufficiently from the chaos of the Nazi defeat to resume operation. A series of twenty-five, ten, five and one cent pieces were minted in large numbers. As queen Wilhelmina abdicated that year in protest of Dutch colonial policy in Indonesia, all are one year types.

Recorded mintage: 25,000,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 3.5 g, bronze, 21 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 176, Sch-1076.
