Jean Elsen sale 162, lot 1826

This specimen was lot 1826 in Jean Elsen sale 162 (Brussels, June 2025), where it sold for €120 (about US$166 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BELGIQUE, Royaume, Léopold Ier (1831-1865), Cu 2 centimes, 1858. (kingdom of Belgium, Leopold I, 1831-65, copper two centimes of 1858. Extremely Fine - Uncirculated.)"

The SCWC reports 1858/47 and 1858/57 overdates in addition to the normal date. This type was struck 1835-38, 1841-65 and common dates exist. This one is somewhat scarce.

Recorded mintage: 3,177,248 including overdates.

Specification: 3.6 g, copper, 22 mm diameter.
