Sincona sale 11, lot 1693
Northern Italy in 1806

This specimen was lot 1693 in Sincona sale 11 (Zürich, May 2013), where it sold for 1,300 CHF (about US$1,609 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"ITALIEN Königreich Napoleone I. 1805-1814. 2 Lire 1814, Mailand. Fast FDC-FDC. (kingdom of Italy, Napoleon I, 1805-14, two lire of 1814, Milan mint, about uncirculated.)"

This coin was struck in Milan for Napoleon's kingdom of Italy which lasted 1804-1814. The two lire piece matched the French two francs and was struck in some numbers 1807-14. The silver five lire was also struck in Milan, Venice and Bologna.

Recorded mintage: 3,100.

Specification: 10 g, 0.900 fine silver, this specimen 9.97 g.
