Schleswig-Holstein in 1648

This specimen was lot 863 in Sincona sale 6 (Zürich, May 2012), where it sold for 3,200 CHF (about US$3,938 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorp, Herzogtum Friedrich III. 1616-1659. Taler 1659. Auf seinen Tod. Geharnischtes Brustbild mit Mantel nach rechts. Rv. Neun Zeilen Schrift. Gutes sehr schön. (Duchy of Schleswig-Holstein-Gottorp, Frederick III, 1616-59, thaler of 1659, issued on the death of the duke.
