This specimen was lot 33865 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "Confederation 5 Rappen 1877-B MS66 PCGS, Bern mint. An alluring example, which one must closely examine closely to identify any imperfection." This type was minted 1850-51 in Strasbourg, France, as the Helvetic Confederation was being organized. It is accompanied by billon ten and twenty rappen. It was later minted in Bern 1872-77 before being converted to copper-nickel in 1879.

Recorded mintage: 978,000.
