Germany 1942D pfennig rev DSLR.jpg

This type was struck 1940-45 at seven mints (A, B, D, E, F, G, J), replacing an earlier pfennig in bronze (KM 89). This example is from Munich. Proofs exist. For a race of Aryan supermen, the Nazis were remarkably unimaginative coin designers and this type is quite dull.

Recorded mintage: 134,145,000, a common date.

Specification: 1.85 g, zinc, 17 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 97.
