This specimen was lot 1614 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €260 (about US$336 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"KÖNIGREICH Christian V. 1670-1699. 2 Kronen (8 Mark) 1675, Kopenhagen. Kl. Graffiti im Feld der Vorderseite, sehr schön. (kingdom of Denmark, Christian V, 1670-99, double crown or eight mark of 1675, Copenhagen mint. Graffiti in obverse fields, very fine.)"
The double krone or eight mark was introduced in 1618 and struck intermittently throughout the eighteenth century. It varied in weight and fineness but usually contained just under an ounce of fine silver. This type was struck 1675 only but is fairly common for a Danish crown. A variety exists where the horse prances on grass instead of the plain exergue shown here.
