Jean Elsen sale 136, lot 890

This specimen was lot 890 in Jean Elsen sale 136 (Brussels, March 2018), where it sold for €650 (about US$954 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"TOURNAI, Seigneurie, Albert et Isabelle (1598-1621), AR triple réal, 1607. Avec tour au droit et au revers. D/ B. accolés à g. R/ Ecu parti d'Autriche-Bourgogne, couronné, sur une croix de Bourgogne, orné du bijou de la Toison d'or. Rare Tranche irrégulière. Belle patine. Très Beau à Superbe. Provient de la collection Fürstenberg, vente Nomisma, Zürich, 26 février 1934, 1240 et de notre vente 87, 11 mars 2006, 403. (lordship of Tournai, Albert and Isabella, 1598-1621, silver triple real of 1607 with tower on obverse and reverse. Obverse: accolated busts to left; reverse: crowned arms of Austria-Burgundy over a Burgundian cross, decorated with the jewel of the Order of the Golden Fleece. Rare, irregular rim, nice patina, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type was struck in Tournai 1605-10 and is quite scarce. We also note a triple real (KM 27) from Brabant (Antwerp) and Flanders (KM 8).
