Künker sale 294, lot 3654

This specimen was lot 3654 in Künker sale 294 (Osnabrück, Germany, July 2017), where it sold for €4,400 (about US$5,930 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"HESSEN, HESSEN-KASSEL, LANDGRAFSCHAFT Friedrich I. 1730-1751. Dukat 1737, Kassel. GOLD. R Vorzüglich-Stempelglanz. (Germany, landgraviate of Hesse-Cassel, Frederick I, 1730-51, ducat of 1737, Cassel mint. Scarce, extremely fine to uncirculated.)"

This scarce type was accompanied by a ducat with a bust obverse (Fr-1300). Frederick I was also king of Sweden.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold, .109 troy oz AGW, this specimen 3.44 g.
