Sincona sale 91, lot 3592

This specimen was lot 3592 in Sincona sale 91 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 2,400 CHF (about US$3,171 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zug, Schilling 1783, Zug. Silberabschlag. Äusserst selten. Gutes vorzüglich. Flaue Stellen. (Switzerland, canton of Zug, schilling of 1783, Zug mint, struck in silver. Extremely rare, Good extremely fine, Some weakly struck areas.)"

The SCWC lists this type for 1783 only. Like many low denomination coins, it is common in low grade but rare in choice condition, no contemporaries thinking it worth hoarding. The SCWC does not mention the strike in silver.
