Stephen Album sale 50, lot 3620

This specimen was lot 3620 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $156. The catalog description[1] noted, "AFGHANISTAN: Muhammad Nadir Shah, 1929-1933, AE 2 pul, AH1348, a wonderful lustrous example! PCGS graded MS64 RB, ex Hakim Hamidi Collection." Coins of this period are sometimes dated on the traditional Muslim calendar, or on the Solar Hegira calendar, as here, which starts on the same date as the traditional Hegira calendar but uses solar years rather than lunar years. This type was struck AH 1348-1349. One hundred pul made an afghani.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 2 g, bronze, 18 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-917, H-65.
