The specimen shown is one of a series struck 1867-91 at Santiago, [[Chile]]. It is one of the most common pesos of South America but makes up for it by its handsome design of a condor holding the arms of Chile. Two overdates, 1883/8 and 1883/2, are noted for the year. The rare [[Chile 1883-So Peso Flat Top 3|flat top 3 variety]] was actually struck in the 1920's and then remelted, leaving few survivors.
