This specimen was lot 32143 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2024), where it sold for $65. The catalog description[1] noted, "FINLAND. 10 Pennia, 1891. Helsinki Mint. Alexander III. PCGS AU-58. Despite the signs of light handling, this minor is rich with alluring details and much charm." This type is listed for 1889-91. This date is the most common of the three but not as available as the wartime issues. Russian defeats in World War One enabled the Finns, who had long chafed under Russian rule, to declare independence.
Recorded mintage: 295,000.
Specification: 12.8 g, copper, 30 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM-12.
