This specimen was lot 23433 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Las Vegas, August 2020), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. 2-1/2 Gulden, 1867. Utrecht Mint. William III. PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield. A bright and lustrous survivor with frosty well defined devices and light signs of handling consistent for the grade. An attractive example with lots of flash sure to worthy of a strong bid. From the BKingdom Collection." The specimen shown is a late date of a type struck at the Utrecht mint for the Netherlands 1849-74. Most of the dates are common. After the final issue of 1874, no 2½ gulden were issued until 1898. The 0.945 fine alloy seems to be unique to the Netherlands.
Recorded mintage: 4,948,886.
Specification: 25 g, 0.945 fine silver, 38 mm diameter., edge lettered ★ GOD ★ ZY ★ MET ★ ONS.
