Steve Album sale 30, lot 1140
Saxe-Gotha-Altenburg SA30-1140r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1140 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it sold for $152.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "SAXE-GOTHA-ALTENBURG: Friedrich III, 1732-1772, AE 3 pfennig, 1761-LCK, some red luster, proof-like strike, just fantastic! NGC graded MS65 BR." Ducats from this postage stamp state are rare and expensive but many of the minors are quite affordable. This type was issued in 1761 only.

Recorded mintage: unknown but common.

Specification: copper.

Catalog reference: Cr-10, KM-305.
