CNG Lissner sale, lot 596

This specimen was lot 596 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $544.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY, Regno d'Italia. Vittorio Emanuele III. 1900-1946. AR 2 Lire. Rome mint. Dated 1912 R. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 63. Very lightly toned choice uncirculated. Highest graded. Purchased from M. Louis Teller, June 1974." This type was struck 1908-12 and is rather scarce. The type of 1914-17 (KM 55) rounded out the series of silver two lire.

Recorded mintage: 2,166,000.

Specification: 10 g, 0.835 fine silver, 28 mm diameter. This specimen is Ø28 mm, 10.00 g, 6h axis.
