The specimen shown is an example of a type struck in Austria, 1959-2001. Austria began minting euros in 2002, rendering this coin obsolete. The obverse features the edelweiss, the flower made famous by The Sound of Music.
Recorded mintage: 60,000,000 + 28,000 special uncirculated for the sets.
Specification: 4.2 g, aluminum bronze, 22.5 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: Herinek 22, KM 2886.
