This specimen was lot 51068 in Stack's Bowers Hong Kong auction (Hong Kong, April 2021), where it sold for $14,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "BURMA. Pe, CS 1228 (1866). NGC MS-65. The finest in the NGC census, this incredibly attractive and alluring Gem minor is VERY RARE overall, and even more so in this lofty state. The strike is far nicer than is generally encountered, and the golden-orange hue presents tremendous beauty. Assuredly worthy of much adoration and an elite bid." A pe was half a mu. One kyat = one rupee = five mat = ten mu. The obverse features the Burmese lion or chinze.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 0.67 g, gold.
