This specimen was lot 40229 in Ponterio sale 168 (Philadelphia, August 2012), where it sold for $1,610. The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, "ITALY. Sardinia. 100 Lire, 1836. PCGS AU-50 Secure Holder. Anchor mint mark. Mintage of 703 pieces." This type was struck 1832-45 at Turin and Genoa (shown here) and superseded the gold [[Sardinia 1828(t) P 80 lire|eighty lire]] of the previous reign. Tho not rare, it is expensive.
