This specimen was lot 22284 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it sold for $763.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "FRANCE. Bishopric of Strassburg & Metz. Testone, 1605. Karl von Lothringen (1593-1607). PCGS MS-64 Secure Holder. Sharply struck, very appealing toning and a high degree of underlying luster. Quite attractive." This type is catalogued in the SCWC as a one-third thaler struck 1602-08.
Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.
Specification: 9.14 g, silver.
