This specimen was lot 2107 in Goldberg sale 93 (Los Angeles, September 2016), where it sold for $258.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Newfoundland. 5 Cents, 1919-C NGC AU58. George V. NGC graded AU-58. From the Aurora Family Collection." This specimen is a fairly common date of a type struck in Ottawa, Canada, for the colony of Newfoundland in 1912, 1917, 1919 and 1929. Canada debased her five cent pieces from .925 to 0.800 fine silver in 1920 but Newfoundland did not follow suit until 1944. Newfoundland was admitted into the Dominion of Canada in 1949 and her separate coinage ceased.
