This specimen was lot 30017 in Heritage sale 3042 (Long Beach, September 2015), where it sold for $3,055. The catalog description[1] noted, "Leopold I gold Ducat 1672-KB MS65 NGC, Kremnitz mint. A superior example in all regards, featuring the full-length, draped figure of Leopold and Madonna with child. Sun-kissed radiance ignites the sharpness of the design motifs which soar above the surrounding fields, and original mint bloom captivates the eye upon rotation. Although it seems inconceivable that a piece of this age could have escaped the pitfalls of handling and wear, the current specimen most certainly did. An ideal representative of the type, most elusive in this deluxe quality." This type is noted in the SCWC for 1658-1704.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.48 grams, 0.986 fine gold, 22.9 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: Huszar 1321, Fr-128; KM-151.
