This specimen was lot 4293 in Sincona sale 95 (Zürich, October 2024), where it sold for 950 CHF (about US$1,317 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ Luzern, Stadt und Kanton, Batzen 1569, Luzern. Sehr schön. Kratzer im Avers. Batzen 1569 fehlten in vielen berühmten Sammlungen wie Stroehlin, Stuker, Dolivo, Leu 2003. Dieses Exemplar ist vermutlich eine Nachprägung. Siehe Tobler/Münzstempel-Kombination 109/113. (Switzerland, canton of Luzern, Luzern mint. This batzen of 1569 is missing from many famous collections such as Stroehlin, Stuker, Dolivo, Leu 2003. This example may be a restrike. Very Fine, Scratches on obverse.)"
This one year type may be the first appearance of this denomination in this canton. Note the two digit date in the reverse legend, "✠ SOLI ✥ DEO ✥ GLORIA ✥ 69". At this time, one thaler made 18 batzen or 72 kreuzer.
Record mintage: unknown.
Specification: 3.3 g, silver, 28 mm diameter, this specimen 2.32 g.
Catalog reference: Wielandt (Luzern) 34, HMZ 2-620c.
