Sincona sale 98, lot 4612

This specimen was lot 4612 in SINCONA Auction 98 (Zürich, May 2025), where it sold for 750 CHF (about US$1,088 including buyers' fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ Zürich, Stadt und Kanton, Taler 1561, Zürich. Auf der Rückseitenumschrift die letzten beiden Ziffern der Jahreszahl 61. Sehr selten. Sehr schön. Exemplar der Slg. Zuberbühler, Auktion SINCONA 16, Zürich, Oktober 2013, Los 6332. (Switzerland, city and canton of Zürich, thaler of 1561, Zürich mint. The abbreviated date is on the reverse. Very rare, Very Fine.)"

This type was struck 1558-61 with the date on the eagle side; the very similar Dav-8775 has the date on the lion side.
