This type was struck in Lima for the short-lived state of North Peru. It was struck 1836-39 and is only somewhat scarcer than the regular issue. The complete span of Peru standing liberty eight reales runs 1825-55.

The first specimen shown was lot 28876 and sold on Jan 11, 2011 for $1,150 at the 2011 January World & Ancient coins Non-Floor Session #3013 by Heritage Auctions. The catalog description reads: "North Peru 8 Reales 1837TM, MS64 NGC, date unlisted in KM, Lima mint, steel gray toning with shimmering underlying luster. Tough to find this choice."

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
