This specimen was lot 42463 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Oklahoma City, OK, August 2025), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. [[Netherlands, Gelderland|Gelderland]]. 1/2 Golden Rider, 1617. Harderwijk Mint. PCGS Genuine--Cleaned, Unc Details. Despite the noted cleaning, this resounding specimen displays an intense array of lustrous brilliance and fantastic flair, all while the surfaces remain essentially free from handling and with a fairly sharp strike. An impressive and highly provocative example that should elicit much in the way of interest. Ex: Jacques Schulman 226 (1/1956) Lot # 17." Gelderland, along with several other Dutch provinces, issued gold ducats from the sixteenth century until the termination of the United Provinces by Napoleon in the 1790's. This type is recorded for 1608-25, 1641 and 1644 along with a cavalier d'or ([[Gelderland 1608 cavalier d'or Fr-240|KM 18]]).
