This specimen was lot 40240 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "COLOMBIA. 1798-JF 2 Escudos. Popayán mint. Carlos IV (1788-1808). Restrepo 90.12. VF-20 (PCGS). Another date termed 'very scarce' by Restrepo, with bright yellow gold surfaces showing some hairlines and a few small obverse laminations. From the Eldorado Collection of Colombian Coins. Ex. Mike Dunigan, May 1985." This type was struck 1791-1806 at Nuevo Reino (Bogotá) and Popayán and is common, tho priced slightly higher than the prior type of Charles III.
