Künker Auction 426, lot 3631

This specimen was lot 3631 in Künker Auction 426 (Osnabrück, July 2025), where it sold for €135 (about US$191 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRAUNSCHWEIG-CALENBERG-HANNOVER, AB 1692 KURFÜRSTENTUM HANNOVER, AB 1815 KÖNIGREICH HANNOVER Georg V., 1851-1866. Vereinstaler 1859 B. Hübsche Patina, min. berieben, vorzüglich +. (Germany, electorate of Hannover, George V, 1851-66, union thaler of 1859. Handsome patina, lightly polished, extremely fine or better.)"

This type was struck 1857-66 and was the final thaler from this state prior to annexation by Prussia.

Recorded mintage: 554,000.

Specifications: 18.52 g, 0.900 fine silver, 34 mm diameter, lettered edge, this specimen 18,50 g.
