Künker sale 263, lot 1162

This specimen was lot 1162 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €825 (about US$1,066 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"SACHSEN, KURFÜRSTENTUM Johann Friedrich der Großmütige und Moritz, 1541-1547. Taler 1546, Buchholz. Sehr attraktives Exemplar mit ausdrucksvoller Patina, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Electorate of Saxony, John Frederick the Magnanimous and Maurice, 1541-47, thaler of 1546, Buchholz mint. Very attractively toned, very fine to extremely fine.)"

This type of 1542-46 is common and very similar to Dav-9735. It was issued by the Ernestine branch of the dynasty.
