This specimen was lot 1116 in Sincona sale 38 (Zürich, May 2017), where it sold for 2,600 CHF (about US$3,118 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Anhalt-Bernburg, Herzogtum, Alexius Friedrich Christian, 1796-1834 5 Taler / 1 Pistole 1796. Harzgerode. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Kleine Kratzer. (Germany, duchy of Anhalt-Bernburg, Alexius Frederick Christian, 1796-1834, five thaler of 1796, Harzgerode mint, Very fine-extremely fine, Minor scratches.)"
This five thaler was struck to the standard of a Saxon five thaler or Prussian friedrich d'or. The only other issue of this denomination was in 1744, also rare.
