Stack's Bowers 2025 NYINC sale, lot 31174

This specimen was lot 31174 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $2,400. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Holy Roman Empire. Ducat, 1722. Graz Mint. Karl VI. PCGS AU-50. A RARE type and infrequently encountered in any state. Gentle wear is evident over the high points but the details of the elegant portrait have remained mostly intact, and the surfaces are overall problem-free." This type was struck at Graz 1713, 1720, 1722, 1728 and 1738-40. Similar ducats were struck at Breslau and Vienna.

Specification: 3.5 g, .986 find gold, .110 troy oz AGW; this specimen is 3.44 g.
