The first specimen was lot 909 in Classical Numismatic Group's sale of the Lissner Collection (Chicago, August 2014), where it sold for $514.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "SPAIN, Reino de España. Fernando VII. Second reign, 1813-1833. AR 1/2 Real. Sevilla (Seville) mint. Joaquin Degado Diaz and Benito de Roxas, assayers. Dated 1831 S JB. In NGC encapsulation graded MS 63. Very choice prooflike lustrous BU with a hint of iridescence. A jewel of a coin. Purchased from F. S. Werner, September 1972." This type was struck in Madrid 1815-33, in Seville (shown here) 1825 and 1831-33 and in Cadiz 1814 only. Lower in fineness than contemporary Latin American issues, they were discounted in international trade. Tho priced fairly cheaply in the SCWC, this type is very difficult to find at U. S. coin shows.

Specification: 1.69 g, 0.812 fine silver, the first specimen Ø14 mm, 1.46 g, 12h axis.
