This specimen was lot 33317 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "Naples & Sicily. Philip IV of Spain Tari 1622-MC/C MS61 NGC. Crude, as per usual, yet with minimal actual wear and a strong portrait of the Spanish king and Spanish shield. Some light sky-bluish tone catches hints of luster in the upper left quarter of the obverse and to the left of the crown on the reverse." This scarce type is listed for 1622-26. Tari were struck at Messina for Sicily (KM 20) but their weight was less than half this type.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 5.98 g, silver, 27-28 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM 41, MIR-245/3.
