This specimen was lot 52253 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $75,000. The catalog description[1] noted, "GREAT BRITAIN. 1000 Pounds (Kilo), 2017. Llantrisant Mint. Elizabeth II. GEM PROOF. The Queen's Beasts: The Unicorn of Scotland. The second year in The Queen's Beasts series by Jody Clark, this enthralling example captures the majestic Unicorn of Scotland, the powerful symbol that joins the Lion of England on the Royal Arms of the United Kingdom. Serially numbered 3 of just 10, this specimen features rich brilliance and frosted devices, and includes the original case and certification of authenticity of issue." This series of NCLT's featuring "the queen's beasts" in silver and gold commenced in 2016 and ran thru 2021. This 1000 pounds seems to have been the largest and was clearly not marketed to the ordinary collector.
