This specimen was lot 21035 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Las Vegas, August 2020), where it sold for $6,300. The catalog description[1] noted, "AUSTRIA. Olmutz. 2 Ducats, 1691. Karl II von Liechtenstein-Castelcorn. PCGS Genuine--Holed, AU Details Gold Shield. A VERY RARE date with only one other example that we were able to locate in auction archives over the last 15 years also mounted, beat up and worn. Other dates of this type show up in the marketplace from time to time commanding large premiums, while this date seems to be quite elusive seldom appearing for sale. Like many examples from this time period, the present survivor has been pierced for suspension at 12 o'clock on the obverse as indicated on the PCGS insert. Despite its shortcomings, a relatively high grade and handsome example of the type at an affordable price offering much originality." This type was struck 1672, 1678, 1678, 1680, 1684, 1691, 1693 but all dates are rare.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 7 g, 0.986 fine gold.
Catalog reference: Fr-69, KM-267.
