This specimen was lot 44131 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it sold for $432. The catalog description[1] noted, "BULGARIA. 10 Leva, 1984. Sofia Mint. NGC PROOF-68 Ultra Cameo. A commemorative of the United Nations International Decade for Women. An attractive Proof with hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices." The regime issued two other ten leva in 1984: KM 146 (downhill skiing) and KM 147 (gymnastics). The Communist regime, beset by corruption and an aging leadership, was swept away with the collapse of all the Eastern Bloc regimes in 1989-90.

Recorded mintage: 5,572 proofs.

Specification: 23.33 g, 0.625 fine silver, 38.61 mm diameter, lettered edge.

Catalog reference: KM-149.
