This specimen was lot 7702 in Ponterio sale 152 (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $862.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. 5 Mark, 1952-D. 'Museum.' PCGS MS-64." This type marking the centenary of the Nuremburg museum was the first commemorative issued by the West German government after World War Two. This and other commemorative issues of the fifties were all minted in limited numbers and are expensive today. Commemorative five marks were minted to this weight standard until 1975, when the weight was lowered to 5.3 grams.
