This specimen is one of a type struck at the Franklin Mint for the Bahamas 1974-85. In 1974 the bust of the queen was dropped in favor of the arms of the Bahamas. The Franklin Mint produced this denomination 1971-85. In 1985 the composition was changed to copper plated zinc (KM 59a), which design was used until 2004. The starfish reverse makes this coin a popular souvenir for sunburned tourists.

Recorded mintage: 60,000 plus 3,845 prooflike plus 29,000 proofs.

Specification: 3.16 g, brass, 19.05 mm diameter.
