This specimen was lot 22 in Sincona sale 84 (Zurich, October 2023), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$471 including buyer's fees). The catalog description<sup>[1]</sup> noted, <blockquote>"[[Russia|RUSSIA]] Russian Empire and Federation, Kopeck 1716, Naberezhny Mint, NAZ. Very rare. Extremely fine. Extraordinary condition."</blockquote> This type was struck 1713-17. In the days of Peter the Great, kopeks were struck in billon ([[Russia (1718)-L kopek|KM 153]]) as well as copper (shown here). This coin is dated using Cyrillic letters, a habit dropped about 1720 for Arabic numbers.

Sincona sale 84, lot 22

This specimen was lot 22 in Sincona sale 84 (Zürich, October 2023), where it sold for 350 CHF (about US$471 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RUSSIA Russian Empire and Federation, Kopeck 1716, Naberezhny Mint, NAZ. Very rare. Extremely fine. Extraordinary condition."

This type was struck 1713-17. In the days of Peter the Great, kopeks were struck in billon (KM 153) as well as copper (shown here). This coin is dated using Cyrillic letters, a habit dropped about 1720 for Arabic numbers.
