Sincona sale 43, lot 3680

This specimen was lot 3680 in Sincona sale 43 (Zürich, October 2017), where it sold for 800 CHF (about US$955 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"Peru, Republik seit 1879 50 Soles 1963. Lima. Fast FDC. (republic of Peru, since 1879, fifty soles of 1963, Lima mint. About uncirculated.)"

This denomination, struck 1950-69, was theoretically a circulating coin but actually was a bullion piece like her sisters, the gold five, ten, twenty and hundred soles.

Specification: 23.405 g, 0.900 fine gold, .677 troy oz AGW, this specimen 23.36 g.
