Sincona sale 90, lot 1567

This specimen was lot 1567 in Sincona sale 90 (Zürich, May 2024), where it sold for 4,250 CHF (about US$ including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"RDR / ÖSTERREICH, Rudolf II. 1576-1612. Dukat 1589 KB, Kremnitz. Münzmeister Wolfgang Roll. Vorzüglich. (Holy Roman Empire, Rudolf II, 1576-1612, ducat of 1589, Kremnitz mint. Extremely fine.)"

The armored standing figure is not the emperor but of St. Ladislas holding a pike. Friedberg lists this type for 1578-1608. It is the most common Hungarian ducat of Rudolf's reign.
