This specimen was lot 71658 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, February 2020), where it sold for $80. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWITZERLAND. Bern. 2-1/2 Rappen, 1811. PCGS MS-65 Gold Shield. A premium example of this type from canton Bern. Light silvery toning with an exquisite overall appearance." This one year type is actually fairly common. One thaler = 40 batzen and one batzen = ten rappen. The last Bernese coin is a rappen dated 1836.

Recorded mintage: 114,000.
