This specimen was lot 2478 in Sincona sale 33 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 500 CHF (about US$594 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"Bayern, Königreich. Otto, 1886-1913 5 Mark 1888. D, München. Gutes vorzüglich. (kingdom of Bavaria, Otto, 1886-1913, five mark of 1888, Munich mint. Good extremely fine.)"
This one year type is not rare but is scarce compared to the type of 1891-1908 which used a modified reverse. King Otto, traumatized by his combat experience in the Austro-Prussian war, ruled under a regency for his entire reign.
Recorded mintage: 69,000 plus a few proofs.
