This specimen was lot 72070 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $1,020. The catalog description[1] noted, "PERU. 4 Reales, 1757-LM. Lima Mint; Assayers Joseph Rodriguez de Carrasa & Manuel de Iglesia Abarca (J M). Ferdinand VI. PCGS VF-30. This deeply toned minor exhibits honest wear from circulation, but remains a wholesome example of the type with plenty of detail to admire. From the Pat Johnson Collection. Ex: Henry Christensen." This type was struck 1752-1760 for king Ferdinand VI. As a class, pillar coinage of Peru is much less plentiful than that of Mexico, though it is more available than the remaining mints.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 13.54 g, 0.917 fine silver.
