Heritage sale 3029, lot 30277
Sweden 1775 riksdaler rev H3029-30277.jpg

This specimen was lot 30277 in Heritage sale 3029 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $4,993.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Gustaf III Riksdaler (3 Daler SM) 1775-OL, MS65 NGC. A remarkable example with aged cabinet patina and full underlying mint brilliance. Additionally, this piece is completely free of adjustment marks, which almost always occur on Riksdalers of the era. Rarely seen in this elite certified grade." In the pre-reform Swedish coinage, 8 öre = 1 mark and 96 öre = 1 riksdaler. This type was issued 1775-77. The date is common.

Recorded mintage: 35,000.

Specification: 29.25 g, 0.878 fine silver.

Catalog reference: KM 514, Dav-1735.
