Sweden 1776-OL riksdaler Dav-1735
The first specimen was lot 4890 in Goldberg sale 65 (Los Angeles, September 2011), where it sold for $356.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Sweden. Riksdaler, 1776-OL. Gustavus III. Small cross. A few tiny edge nicks. Toned. NGC graded AU-50." The second specimen was lot 1419 in Stephen Album sale 30 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2018), where it sold for $164.50. The catalog description[2] noted, "SWEDEN: Gustav III, 1771-1792, AR riksdaler, 1784 (sic), initials OL, small cross, small flan flaws, lightly toned, Choice EF, Ex Dr. John Lund Collection." This type was issued 1775-77. Several varieties are noted for the year, varying in the style of cross above the crown on the reverse. The date is common.
