from the Stacks Bowers 2018 ANA sale, lot 23620
Sweden SB818-23620r.jpg

This specimen was lot 23620 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $384. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN. 20 Kronor, 1879-EB. PCGS MS-65. Fully struck and carefully preserved with strong luster in the fields. A much better date from a mintage of 75,000 coins." This type was struck in Sweden 1877-99, all with mintmaster Emil Brusewitz (initials "EB"). The release of the hoard of the Bank of Sweden in the late nineties made this type common in all grades.

Recorded mintage: 75,000.

Specification: 8.96 g, 0.900 fine gold, .259 troy oz AGW.

Catalog reference: Fr-93a; KM-748.
