from Stack's Bowers 2016 ANA sale, lot 21462
Serbia SB816-21462r.jpg

This specimen was lot 21462 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Anaheim, CA, August 2016), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "SERBIA. 10 Para, 1879. Milan I (1868-89). NGC PROOF-66 RB. RARE. The single finest graded example at NGC. Nearly all orange with just faint signs of toning. Handsome smooth surfaces that convey an unmistakable regal quality. The sort of coin many collectors only dream of owning; the chance to acquire it is one not to be passed up." This type, accompanied by twenty, five, two and one dinara and fifty and five para, is not rare in circulated condition but the proofs are scarce. The kingdom, fully independent only in 1878, lasted only until World War One, when it was occupied by the Austrians. After the war, it was reconstituted as Yugoslavia.

Recorded mintage: 9,000,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 10 g, bronze, 30 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM-8.
