Stephen Album internet sale 28, lot 1211

This specimen was lot 1211 in Stephen Album internet sale 28 (Santa Rosa, CA, July 2024), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "SWEDEN: Ulrika Eleonora, 1719-1720, AE öre, 1720, two-year type, struck over 1718 Emergency daler (KM-361) issue, VF." The "KM" on the reverse is not mintmaster's initials but stand for "KUPFER MYNT". Billon öre (KM 381, KM 382) and copper ore for king Frederick (KM 383) also exist for this year. In 1720, Sweden was conceding defeat in the Great Northern War, surrendering the Baltic provinces to Russia, Bremen and Verden to Hanover, most of Swedish Pomerania to Prussia and recognizing Danish control of Schleswig-Holstein. The state was bankrupt.
