This specimen was lot 660 in Ponterio sale 182 (New York, January 2014), where it sold for $4,553.13. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Oldenburg. 5 Mark, 1900-A. NGC PROOF-64." This issue, the first thaler for this locale since 1864, is rare in proof and uncirculated.

Recorded mintage: 20,000 plus proofs.

Specification: 27.77 g, 0.900 fine silver, 38 mm diameter.
